All About AIScreen and Android Hardware
Android devices are affordable and work great with AIScreen. However, there are many Android devices because manufacturers use different versions of Android. To keep things simple, there are two main types:
1. Devices with Standard Android or Android Open Source Project (AOSP)
- Examples: Android boxes, tablets, and phones.
- These devices can access the entire Google Play Store, supporting more business apps and features.
2. Android TV Devices
- Examples: Certain Android boxes and TVs.
- These only have a limited version of the Google Play Store, so they support fewer apps and features.
Android Boxes and Tablets
There are hundreds of Android AOSP devices with very different user experiences. While AIScreen can work with many of these devices if they meet the minimum requirements, we don’t recommend most due to their wide variety of performance and compatibility. If you’re considering an AOSP device not on our suggested list, test it first to ensure it works well with AIScreen.
Android TVs
Android TVs are more reliable because Google’s “Certified Android TV” program ensures a similar user experience across devices. We recommend using most Android TVs with AIScreen as long as they meet the minimum requirements.
Minimum Requirements
To use AIScreen with an Android device, make sure it meets these requirements:
- Google Play Store: The device should have the Play Store preinstalled. Otherwise, you’ll need to install and update the AIScreen app manually.
- Android Version: Android 7.1.2 or higher.
- Processor: At least a dual-core processor (a quad-core processor is better).
- RAM: At least 2 GB of RAM (4 GB is recommended).
- Storage: At least 8 GB of storage (32 GB is preferred).
